Mattel Inc. , the largest U.S. toy company, has recalled millions more toys due to hazards from small magnets and lead paint. The company also warned it may recall additional products as it steps up testing on thousands of toys. This is Mattel's second recall of unsafe toys this month.
The recall, which was announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission , affects about over nine million toys in the United States, and eleven million in foreign countries. It is the largest in recent months involving Chinese produced products, which have recently come under intense scrutiny worldwide for containing dangerous high levels of lead. The earlier recall, on August 2, covered over one million toys marketed by Mattel the parent company of Fisher-Price. The toys affected in the recall were produced between May 2003 and November 2006. None manufactured after November 1, 2006, are affected by the recall and all affected toys were made in China for Mattel. Please visit the recall websites and carefully review the most recent recalled toys listed.
